President of Iraq Abdul Latif Rashid, accompanied by Armenia's Economy Minister Vahan Kerobyan visited the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial in Yerevan as part of his official visit to Armenia.
The President laid a wreath at the memorial and honored the memory of Armenian Genocide victims with a moment of silence.
The guests also toured the Armenian Genocide Museum, where they got acquainted with the permanent and temporary exhibitions, after which the President of Iraq made a note in the memorial book of the honored guests, stating: "We confirm that the Armenian Genocide is the first genocide of our modern times, that falls at the basis of the coining of the term 'genocide' in 1944. It was a barbaric way to exterminate the Armenian people in peacetime and or wartime. We condemn attempts to subject any people to genocide and emphasize the importance of protecting human rights. Eternal rest to the souls of the victims and development to Armenia."
