Paris' Champs Elysees on Sunday night (November 19) donned its holiday colours as the traditional Christmas lights on the iconic French avenue were inaugurated, Reuters reports.
Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo and French actor Gilles Lellouche pressed the button to inaugurate the illuminations this year, with the crowd cheering as the lights glimmered on the the Champs Elysees' 400 trees.
"It’s wonderful to see all these Christmas lights that we now see everywhere, and now on the Champs Elysees. It's fantastic," a tourist from Barcelona, Laura Robles, said.
The lights will brighten up the avenue every night during the holiday season until Jan. 7.
