On November 17, the RA NA President Alen Simonyan received the Head of the delegation of the Assembly of the Portuguese Republic Paula Cardoso.
“The fact that in recent period the contacts between our countries have activated on multi-lateral platforms, is very important. Recently I had an honour to meet my colleague Augusto Santos Silva within the framework of the European Conference of Presidents of Parliaments of the Council of Europe held in Dublin, with whom we exchanged ideas on the situation in the region,” the RA NA President noted.
Alen Simonyan stressed that Armenia has adopted the agenda for peace and proposes a regional roadmap for peace, which is a guarantee for lasting peace. The sides discussed the problems of the Armenians displaced from the Nagorno Karabakh and the position of the international community on the cases preceding the displacement. In this context Alen Simonyan highlighted the necessity of equivalent sanctions against Azerbaijan. It was voiced that Azerbaijan does not agree to take part in the negotiations by the mediation of the Western colleagues and fails the dialogue on peace.
At the end of the meeting the RA NA President once again said that Armenia is interested in the cooperation of different spheres with Portugal.
