Armenia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan met with UK Government’s foreign policy adviser John Bew and national security adviser Sarah McIntosh.
Emphasizing the importance of high-level mutual visits, Minister Mirzoyan noted that his visit reflects the positive dynamics of the Armenian-British political dialogue. It was emphasized that the official launch of the Armenia-UK strategic dialogue within the framework of the visit, as well as the opening of the new and more presentable building of the Armenian Embassy in the heart of London, testify to the readiness to expand the bilateral ambitious agenda and realize the existing potential to the maximum.
Thoughts were exchanged on the main directions of the Armenia-UK strategic dialogue and the prospects of developing cooperation in the fields, for the benefit of both the enrichment of the bilateral agenda and the establishment of long-term stability in the region.
The interlocutors also touched on the issues of interaction on international platforms and discussed the importance of ensuring the inclusiveness of regional programs as a guarantee of peace and sustainable economic development. In this context, Ararat Mirzoyan also presented the “Crossroads of Peace” program developed by the Armenian government.
Referring to the problems of more than 100,000 forcibly displaced Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh as a result of ethnic cleansing by Azerbaijan, the parties emphasized the importance of implementation of steps to address their needs and rights, including the involvement of international partners.
