On November 14, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan, who is on an official visit to London, had a meeting with Tim Loughton, Head of the Armenia-UK Friendship Group and its members.
During the meeting, a number of issues on the agenda of the Armenian-British relations were discussed. The interlocutors recorded the dynamics of deepening bilateral political dialogue and, in this context, emphasised the importance of the launch of the Armenia-UK Strategic Dialogue as an important manifestation of support for democracy in Armenia among other things.
The issues of the security situation in the South Caucasus were also on the agenda of the meeting.
The Foreign Minister of Armenia introduced Armenia’s vision for the establishment of peace and stability in the region. Minister Mirzoyan touched upon the principles set out in the Granada statement.
Ararat Mirzoyan also presented the "Crossroads of Peace" project developed by the Government of the Republic of Armenia.
Minister Mirzoyan briefed the British parliamentarians on the situation resulting from the ethnic cleansing of Nagorno-Karabakh by Azerbaijan, emphasising the problems of addressing the needs and rights of more than 100.000 forcibly displaced Armenians․
The attendees emphasised the importance of keeping the attention on the South Caucasus while in parallel there are several conflicts in various parts of the world.
