Azerbaijan demolished an Armenian church in Nagorno-Karabakh, thereby violating the interim decision of the International Court of Justice, Caucasus Heritage Watch reports.
In the summer of 2022, the organization recorded the almost complete destruction of Mokhrenes village in Hadrut region. The 18th-19th century Saint Sargis Church was also destroyed. Then the Azerbaijani side started construction works in the same place.
"The destruction of the church in 2022 is the first documented violation of the International Court of Justice's December 2021 interim measure," the organization said in a statement. According to Caucasus Heritage Watch, the question arises, how will the International Court of Justice respond to violations of its rulings and attempts to cover them up?
