We highly appreciate Germany's efforts to establish peace and stability in the region, Armenia's Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated during a joint press conference organized by Armenia's Foreign Ministry after a meeting and a private conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany Annalena Baerbock.
During the press conference, Mirzoyan reminded that more than 100,000 Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh, being under "inhumane blockade" by Azerbaijan for months and due to the fear of possible crimes, were forcibly displaced from their homeland.
In parallel, the occupation of the sovereign territory of Armenia has not disappeared, there are humanitarian problems, Armenian prisoners of war and illegally held civilians are held in prison in Baku.
"I want to emphasize that despite all the complications, despite all the challenges, Armenia has the political will to achieve peace, to establish peace. We consider it possible, and our approaches, in general, are also expressed in the statement adopted after the Granada quadrilateral meeting. They are very simple principles," said the Foreign Minister and listed them.
Referring to one of the principles, the unblocking of the infrastructures of the region, Ararat Mirzoyan mentioned. "This is what we in Armenia call the "Crossroads of Peace", we are sure that our country can become that crossroads, our region can become that crossroads, and this will bring economic benefit not only to the neighbors of the immediate region, but also to the whole world, and it will become a unique guaranty of peace," said the Minister.
Mirzoyan also expressed his gratitude for the support provided by the German Government to solve the primary problems of forcibly displaced people from Nagorno-Karabakh.
