Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly is in Yerevan. She had a private conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan, which was followed by an extended meeting. Then the heads of foreign political departments of Armenia and Canada held a press conference.
Thanking the Government of Canada for providing humanitarian aid through the International Committee of the Red Cross in order to address the primary needs of those forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh at this difficult time, Mirzoyan reiterated Armenia's readiness to advance the peace agenda and support the efforts of international partners in this direction.
"The Republic of Armenia expects that its readiness will be fully reciprocated by other countries in the region, as well as full practical support from our international partners. In this way, we see an opportunity to settle the existing problems on the principles that were reflected in the statement adopted as a result of the Granada quadrilateral meeting.
For this purpose, the mutual recognition of the territorial integrity of Armenia and Azerbaijan is paramount, excluding maximalist aspirations, the urgent need to work towards the delimitation of the border between the two countries, based on the latest maps of the Soviet Union General Staff, and we are also interested in the unblocking of regional links based on the sovereignty and jurisdiction of the countries, as well as according to the principles of reciprocity and equality, creating a real intersection in the territory of Armenia," said Mirzoyan.
