The delegation led by the RA NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan met with the Head of the delegation of the United Kingdom to Inter- Parliamentary Union (IPU) Karen Bradley within the framework of the 147th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
The Deputy Speaker of the Parliament underlined the stable development of the bilateral friendly relations between Armenia and the United Kingdom. “We greatly highlight the cooperation between the legislative bodies of our countries and we underscore the necessity of further expansion and strengthening of the inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries, at bilateral, as well as multilateral levels,” the NA Vice President said.
Hakob Arshakyan emphasized the acquisition of the new building for the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia, and the solemn opening of which will take place soon.
During the meeting the situation created in the region was presented in detail, the problems of more than hundreds of thousands of Armenians ethnically cleansed and forcibly displaced from Nagorno Karabakh because of the attack of Azerbaijan and showing their perfect support was spoken about.
Reference was made to the aggressive policy being pursued against the territorial integrity of Armenia by Azerbaijan, as a consequence of which about 150 square kilometres of Armenia’s territory was occupied. “Armenia adopted peace agenda and in this issue Armenia expects the support of the international community,” the NA Vice President noted.
Hakob Arshakyan presented the idea of the Crossroad of Peace proposed by Armenia, stressing the importance of the roadmap for the peace of the region.
At the meeting a number of issues regarding the regional situation, as well as the cooperation between the two countries were also discussed.
The deputies Tsovinar Vardanyan and Arsen Torosyan are also in the delegation led by Hakob Arshakyan.
