Louise Mushikiwabo, Secretary General of the International Organization of Francophonie, is in Yerevan. She was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
After the enlarged meeting, Mirzoyan and Mushikiwabo made statements to the press. Mirzoyan noticed that the visit of the Secretary General of the International Organization of Francophonie in this period full of challenges for our country and the region is seen as a message of solidarity and support by the organization.
The General Secretary of the International Organization of Francophonie stated in the address:
"We have come to testify our solidarity to the Armenian people, to Armenia, to the horrors that the Armenian people have experienced. The International Organization of La Francophonie brings together 88 countries and governments from 5 continents. Armenia is a very important member of that organization for us. We believe that the provisions of the November 9, 2020 statement should have been upheld.
We have often talked about it with the Armenian Ambassador to France, the permanent representative of Armenia in UNESCO. I have always supported the idea of achieving a balanced, acceptable, fair solution to this conflict. We highly appreciate Armenia's quick and dignified acceptance of the families who left their homes in Nagorno-Karabakh in an unexpected situation. We also express our solidarity with the families of the missing and captured persons," said Louise Mushikiwabo.
