Today, on October 17 the Human Rights Defender Ms. Anahit Manasyan and the Human Rights Commissioner of Council of Europe Dunja Mijatović, made a joint visit to the temporary accommodation of people forcibly displaced from Nagorno Karabakh located in Aghavnadzor settlement.
Private interviews were held with forcibly displaced persons, their conditions, needs assessment, medical aid and service, food, as well as personal hygiene items provision processes were examined. Special attention was paid to issues related to ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities.
The forcibly displaced persons presented the deprivations they suffered and the problems caused by the forced displacement to the Defender and the Human Rights Commissioner of the Council of Europe.
The issues presented by them to the Human Rights Defender were discussed on the spot with the relevant employees, including medical workers.
As a result of the visit, the problems recorded by the Defender will be summarized and the proposals aimed at solving them will be presented to the competent authorities together with the appropriate analysis.
The issues of ensuring the rights of people forcibly displaced from Nagorno Karabakh are under the special attention of the Human Rights Defender. The visits of the Human Rights Defender and the staff of the Defender's office will be continuous.
Monitoring and fact-finding activities are conducted on a daily basis, ensuring the addressing and solving of the recorded problems.
