The Palestinian-Israeli conflict will continue until the Palestinians get their independent country with Jerusalem as its capital, said Mahmoud al-Habbash, adviser to Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, RIA Novosti reports.
As the politician explained, at the moment the priority of the Palestinian side is to stop the aggression against the Gaza Strip. He noted that the leadership strives to stop the bloodshed, as well as to start negotiations "that will lead to the end of the occupation". He noted that the current stage of confrontation between Israel and Hamas will end.
"If the occupation continues, we have to wait for another phase, possibly other phases, which may be more violent, because, as I said, the problem is the existence of the occupation," he said.
Earlier, the Palestinian ambassador in Moscow, Abdel Hafiz Nofal, stated that a peace process with Israel is possible under the two-state principle.
