Today the illegal trial against the 68-year-old citizen of Artsakh Vagif Khachatryan started in Baku, Nagorno-Karabakh's former Ombudsman stated in
X (former Twitter).
"Vagif was abducted by Azerbaijan at the illegal checkpoint near the Hakari bridge on July 29, 2023, while being transported by the ICRC to Armenia for an urgent heart surgery.
While blatantly violating the international law, Azerbaijan conducts an arbitrary trial against an innocent person based on a fabricated criminal case.
The international community must stand for the human rights and values that it champions by ensuring the immediate and safe return of Vagif Khachatryan to Armenia."
