In Bishkek, the foreign ministers of the CIS countries adopted a statement regarding the situation created in the territory of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, reports the Russian Foreign Ministry.
In particular, it expresses concerns about the large-scale escalation of hostilities, which has resulted in many civilian casualties on both sides, and condemns any manifestation of extremism and terrorism, hostage-taking and other acts of violence against civilians.
In the statement, the participants express their concern regarding the expected humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip, emphasize the need to act in accordance with the norms of international humanitarian law and provide the necessary assistance to all those in need.
The parties are called upon to immediately cease hostilities, ensure a lasting ceasefire and open humanitarian corridors for the civilian population.
The document emphasizes the importance of diplomatic efforts to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the Middle East on an international legal basis, including relevant UN resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Russia and Uzbekistan joined the statement, Azerbaijan did not.
