During the Bishkek summit, the Russian President referred to the Nagorno-Karabakh issue and once again stated: "The territory of Karabakh finally became part of Azerbaijan after Prime Minister Pashinyan recognized it as the territory of Azerbaijan during a meeting held in Prague last year, thereby radically changing the status of Karabakh."
"The mandate of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh consisted of only one thing: monitoring the ceasefire regime. And when Armenia recognized Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan, it turned out that our peacekeepers are located in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Now, after the difficult events related to the emigration of the Armenian population, the situation has changed dramatically," said the Russian President.
Putin expressed his opinion that Russian peacekeepers should stay in Nagorno-Karabakh until November 2025. "Formally, our peacekeepers will be there until November 2025, and we, of course, have to solve the question of what we will do in the near future through dialogue with our partners. But we will decide that during the negotiations," the Russian leader said.
He also referred to his working relationship with Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. "When the situation returns to normal, either I will visit him or he will come here. We have an already established work schedule." He also informed that the departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Armenia and the economic bloc are working non-stop.
