On October 13, the member of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, the Head of the Armenian delegation to the EuroNest Parliamentary Assembly (PA) Maria Karapetyan met with the delegation led by the member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament and the member of the delegation of the EuroNest Parliamentary Assembly Viola von Cramon-Taubadel.
Welcoming the guests in the Parliament, Maria Karapetyan presented the security environment of Armenia and the existing challenges, talked about the ways to solve them. The MP also touched upon the foreign and regional policies of our country.
Maria Karapetyan presented to the guests the situation created by the forced displacement of more than 100.000 people from Nagorno-Karabakh, referred to the humanitarian problems resulting from it that require an urgent solution, underscoring the necessity for cooperation with international partners in this matter.
Speaking about the cooperation with the European Parliament, the Head of the Armenian delegation in the EuroNest PA highlighted the resolution on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh after Azerbaijan’s attack adopted on October 5, which strongly condemned the pre-planned and unjustified military attack by Azerbaijan against the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh.
The interlocutors attached importance to the establishment of lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus, discussed issues of bilateral interest.
