On October 13, the members of the RA NA Standing Committee on European Integration met with the Member of the European Parliament and the member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Viola von Cramon-Taubadel. The Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia, Ambassador Vassilis Maragos also attended the meeting.
The Committee Chair Arman Yeghoyan thanked the European Union for the resolution on Situation created in Nagorno Karabakh after the attack of Azerbaijan, where the preplanned and unjustified military attack against Nagorno Karabakh by Azerbaijan was strongly condemned.
The short-term and long-term programmes aimed at the satisfaction of the needs of the forcibly displaced residents from Nagorno Karabakh are in the centre of attention of the deputies. Reference was made to calls directed to the sovereignty and territorial integrity and counteracting its mechanisms.
Thanking the Committee members for the reception Viola von Cramon-Taubadel noted that such visits are of great importance here, for getting acquainted with the situation in Armenia. According to her, the resolutions and harsh statements are very important, but it is time that the European Union undertakes clear steps.
The involvement of the EU and the member states to the peace treaty signing process was highlighted.
Issues regarding the economic, democratic reforms and other spheres were also discussed.
