The Russian Foreign Ministry called the strikes of the Israeli air force on the Damascus and Aleppo airports a gross violation of Syria's sovereignty, warning that such actions could lead to an armed escalation in the region.
On Thursday, Israel carried out airstrikes on the international airports of Damascus and Aleppo, which were forced to stop their operations.
"These actions of the Israeli side are a gross violation of the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic and the fundamental norms of international law," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"In the context of the sharp escalation of the situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone, such force actions are fraught with extremely dangerous consequences, as they can provoke armed escalation in the entire region. This should not be allowed under any circumstances," the message emphasizes.
