Armenian Parliament member Armen Rustamyan delivered a speech at the joint hearings of three committees of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on the topic "The humanitarian situation in Nagorno Karabakh and the obligations of Azerbaijan".
"The situation is very clear. After a ten-month complete blockade and a war unleashed by Azerbaijan against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, the entire population of Nagorno-Karabakh was forced to leave their homeland, where they lived for centuries. This is a typical example of ethnic cleansing because people did not leave their homes of their own free will. We also know that ethnic cleansing is an act of genocide. This is a very serious violation of the commitments undertaken by Azerbaijan. Sanctions should be applied against the country", said the deputy.
