The gas hub project in Turkey at the first stage primarily involves the creation of an electronic platform for trading gas to Europe. Everyone in Europe who wants to acquire Russian resources is interested in this project, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the plenary meeting of the Russian Energy Week, TASS reports.
“Here we are talking, first of all, about creating an electronic platform for trading gas on the European continent. Everyone is interested in this – our Turkish friends, and we are interested, and everyone who wants to acquire our resources on the European continent. There are such people, but today we supply gas there through Turkey. We have two routes – Turkish Stream and Blue Stream – they operate efficiently and are completely full. In principle, we have ideas to expand these opportunities. But, I repeat, the first stage is the creation of an electronic trading platform,” he said.
Putin added that the Russian Federation does not see any big problems in creating the site, since both Turkey and Russia are interested in this project. In addition, Azerbaijan is also showing interest in the gas hub. “Türkiye is interested, we are too, we talked with Azerbaijan, they are also showing interest. Then, as the work gets better, and I hope it will, we hope that other interested countries will also get involved,” the president concluded.
