The Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, addressed the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in his X microblog (former Twitter).
"The scale of terror and brutality against Israel and its people is a turning point. There can be no business as usual. As the biggest donor of the Palestinians, the European Commission is putting its full development portfolio under review, worth a total of EUR 691m. All payments, all pending projects, all new budget proposals including 2023 have been suspended. Now we need to address the foundations of peace, tolerance and coexistence. Hate speech, violence and the glorification of terrorism have poisoned the minds of many. We must act."
