Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mikhail Galuzin believes that even after the military aggression undertaken by Azerbaijan and the subsequent decision to self-dissolve Nagorno-Karabakh, when more than 100 thousand Armenians left the region, the mission of the Russian peacekeeping troops remains more than demanded.
He explained that there are contacts between the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh and the representatives of the Azerbaijani authorities, in which the representatives of the command of the Russian peacekeeping troops also participate, and with their support, a number of difficult issues are resolved.
According to Galuzin, the activity of the Russian peacekeeping troops in Nagorno-Karabakh has not exhausted itself, it is still in demand, because there are still Armenians there, many of those who left may want to return, and "the presence of peacekeepers will become an additional factor of peace for those people", he is convinced.
