During a press conference, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani referred to the issue of establishing contact between Azerbaijan and Nakhijevan through the territory of Iran. He noted: "It's not a new thing. The Iranian corridor has been at the disposal of Azerbaijan for 34 years. It is within those frameworks that the cooperation continues. Given the new realities, there is an opportunity to establish this cooperation in accordance with the new geography. Iran welcomed Azerbaijan's request to cooperate. Mr. (Mehrdad) Bazrpash's visit and the opening of the bridge are within the framework of that cooperation."
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman confirmed Tehran's position on the issue of corridors. "In principle, we support the discussion of cooperation in the field of transit and regional corridors, but we emphasize that the corridors should be created in accordance with the sovereignty of countries and international law."
Nasser Kanaani noted that Bazrpash discussed various topics on bilateral issues with his colleague within the framework of the visit, and also met with the President of Azerbaijan Aliyev. During the press conference, Kanaani emphasized that Iran is ready to support the dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
