During the 74th session of the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights held on October 4-5, the Republic of Armenia's 4th periodic report was discussed in accordance with the corresponding pact. The Armenian delegation, led by Deputy Foreign Minister Vahe Gevorgyan, included representatives from various ministries and offices, such as Foreign Affairs, Economy, Labor and Social Affairs, Justice, Internal Affairs, and the Prosecutor General's Office.
Of particular note during the discussion was the humanitarian crisis resulting from Azerbaijan's ethnic cleansing of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh. It was emphasized that Armenia has received over 100,000 refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh in the last two weeks. Committee members expressed their solidarity with Armenia's efforts to address the humanitarian crisis and called for comprehensive international support in this regard.
The delegation provided detailed responses to numerous questions raised by the Committee's experts. Information was shared about legislative initiatives and measures taken in various sectors, including social, economic, cultural, and educational areas.
The Committee is expected to present its final observations on Armenia following the discussion.
