The Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi during the meeting with Azerbaijani president’s special envoy considered it necessary to improve the level of relations between Tehran and Baku and “to counter the plans designed to create differences and disruptions in the relations between the two countries”. Raisi, in particular said,”The Islamic Republic of Iran, as a powerful neighbor of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia, is fully prepared to Help resolve their differences”.
Dr. Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, in his meeting with Mr. Khalaf Khalafov, the assistant to the president of Azerbaijan for special affairs, described and clarified the relations between the two countries based on cultural commonalities and historical and deep religious beliefs. “Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan have diverse and numerous capacities that can be exchanged. They provide the interests of two countries and two nations”, Raisi said.
The president considered it necessary to improve the level of relations between Tehran and Baku and to confront the plans designed to create differences and disruptions in the relations between the two countries, and by stating that maintaining and promoting stability in the region depends on the cooperation and synergy of the countries of the region, Raisi’s press office reports.
Dr. Raisi emphasized the importance of maintaining the borders and geopolitics of the region and stated, “Iran welcomes regional dialogues in the form of “3+3” or in any other form and format that can help solve problems and untie the knots in the relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia. The countries of the region have the capacity to solve the problems of the region and opening the feet of foreign countries to the region under any pretext is not in the interest of any of the countries of the region”.
Khalaf Khalafov appreciated the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the effective role of Dr. Raisi in maintaining the relations between the two countries after the incident that happened to the Embassy of this country in Tehran.
Khalafov called the Islamic Republic of Iran a powerful country in the region and a neighbor and friend of his country, and noted that the Republic of Azerbaijan deeply believes that the issues of the region should be resolved through cooperation and dialogue between the countries of the region and that other countries should not step into the region. He said that the Republic of Azerbaijan welcomes any dialogue, especially in the form of “3+3” dialogues to strengthen regional cooperation and resolve regional issues.
Earlier, President Raisi had a meeting with Armen Grigoryan, the secretary of Armenia’s Security Council.
