Azerbaijani news media reports that Ilham Aliyev refused to go to Spain, where a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was planned as part of the European Political Community Summit. European Council head Charles Michel, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron would also participate in the meeting.
According to the Azerbaijani side, France's position and Paris and Berlin's disapproval of Turkey's possible participation in the meeting caused the boycott of the meeting.
Official Baku has not yet issued a statement regarding non-participation in the meeting.
