We were very constructive and optimistic because we believed there was an opportunity to sign a landmark document. Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this during the Parliament-Government question-and-answer session, referring to his visit to Granada on October 5, and the statement of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev that he will not participate in the planned meeting.
“We confirmed the visit to Granada until the last minute and today, and I must say that we were very constructive and optimistic because we thought there was an opportunity to sign a landmark document and, in fact, until this morning we estimated the probability very high.
Now, since it did not work out, Armenia did not succumb to puppet pressure, expressed a clearly reasoned, constructive position, made its views clear and understandably, no one can block the road to the airport (appeals were made that the road to the airport should be closed, preventing the Prime Minister from going to Granada – ed.), now we saw what happened. It turned out that the scheduled meeting did not take place through no fault of ours,” said Pashinyan.
The Prime Minister informed that, however, the visit to Granada is not cancelled, they will leave with a delegation, which includes the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Secretary of the Security Council.
"We have not canceled, we are leaving, and we will have meetings there, and, in fact, we will try to present our positions in more detail.
Of course, we regret that the meeting will not take place, but we hope that the concept, the conceptual document, which is on the table, will be signed at a suitable moment. I am ready to sign that contract, and I am very sorry that tomorrow I will not have the opportunity to announce that this very important decision was made,” he said.
