We are sure that all existing issues, problems, and problems accumulated over the years should be addressed and solved politically, through negotiations, and we remain convinced that peace in the South Caucasus has no alternative. Armenia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan said this during the Parliament-Government question-and-answer session, responding to the question of Marina Ghazaryan, deputy of 'Civil Contract' faction.
"Unfortunately, we continue to see that one side does not share that approach and regularly uses or threatens to use force. Moreover, a few days ago we witnessed military operations against the civilian population and the entire Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh, as a result of which forced deportation took place, and now there are almost no Armenians left in Nagorno-Karabakh. This is a clear manifestation of the policy of ethnic cleansing, and this is not in denial, this is a reality that the whole world has seen. There are procedures in various international instances, where Armenia will pursue in a prescribed manner.
However, I want to repeat once again that Armenia has been and continues to be faithful to its commitment to building peace in the South Caucasus. That peace still has a chance to be, to be realized, that peace can be based on the principles popularized by us, on the basis of the mutual recognition of the territorial integrity of the two countries, Armenia and Azerbaijan, based on the most recent legitimate maps of the Soviet period, on the basis of this, also on the further delimitation of borders - something about which the parties, in fact, have agreed several times, including during the meetings with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev," said Mirzoyan.
Armenia's Foreign Minister emphasized once again that Armenia is ready and committed to build peace in the South Caucasus, to regulate relations with Azerbaijan based on mutual recognition of territorial integrity, sovereignty, independence. "All other issues should arise and can be resolved within the framework of this conversation, including infrastructure and all other arising issues," said the Foreign Minister.
He also added that the Republic of Armenia will pursue the protection of the rights of the Nagorno-Karabakh population with all available and defined means.
