David Babayan, former Foreign Minister and presidential assistant of Nagorno-Karabakh, was detained for four months. According to the Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan, Babayan was charged with more than 10 articles of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
He is accused of "waging an aggressive war, recruiting and training mercenaries, violating the norms of international humanitarian law during an armed conflict, giving inaction or criminal orders, organizing terrorist acts and inter-ethnic enmity" and other articles.
Along with Babayan, the court detained the former commander of the Nagorno-Karabakh army, Lieutenant General Levon Mnatsakanyan. He was charged under Article 113 (torture) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. Mnatsakanyan was arrested yesterday in Lachin corridor.
