The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, together with other state agencies, is currently carrying out a service from our coordination and registration station in Kornidzor and Goris, as well as we already have a coordination station in Vayk, where the registration of compatriots forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh takes place. Then we have primary need assessment, after which we understand who needs immediate accommodation. We are solving the problem of primary residence. Minister of Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan said about it in a briefing.
“Our compatriots who want to go to their favorite places are free to decide where to settle. It does not mean that we do not establish contact with them and do not respond to the problems,” the Minister noted.
“These days, we launched the primary needs registration platform, where our compatriots of Nagorno-Karabakh can register their needs. We have more than 3,000 cases at the moment, and for these cases, of course, an assessment will be carried out, we will provide all kinds of support: food, clothing, some social care support. We also launched another platform, a social support mapping platform. We know that various NGOs, various initiatives have expressed their desire to support the forcibly displaced population from Nagorno-Karabakh in one way or another, in order to give them the opportunity to be sensitive to this process and allocate resources correctly. We have received more than 170 proposals on this platform and will reassess the needs and guide accordingly,” he said.
Narek Mkrtchyan mentioned that the works are planned for short, medium and long term. “At this moment, our task is to give them the opportunity to be deployed. We have announced that in addition to hotel and guest house opportunities with our partner structure - Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, we should give our compatriots the opportunity to use rented apartments. After a complete needs assessment, we will be able to present plans."
The minister noted that they launched the hotline 114, and during these days, more than 6,000 calls were received with various problems, and these problems often refer to the social service, as well as other departments, appropriate advice was given, and all those state departments, which are related to the problem in one way or another were directed.
"Through the 49 territorial centers of our Unified Social Service, regional governors' offices and all the coordination stations in different provinces, settlements and employees of the Unified Social Service of the Republic of Armenia, we are cooperating closely so that we can also carry out a needs assessment during this process and be able to understand in the near future what kind of programs should we offer to our compatriots in the medium and long term," said the Minister.
