Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov advised the Armenian leadership to remember the unenviable fate of those countries that relied on the USA.
"Many people in Armenia want to lose Russia and make new friends. If they are counting on the United States, which is a direct result of the statements of many representatives of the Armenian leadership, then perhaps they would do well to look at the recent history of how the United States has treated those it sought to take under its wing in order to advance its geopolitical interests away from American shores, in different regions of the world. The fate of all those people is very unenviable," Lavrov said in an interview with TASS.
He emphasized that the interests of the Russian Federation in the South Caucasus cannot be ignored in any case from a geopolitical point of view. "Historically, geographically, geopolitically, it is impossible to lose Russia by completely ignoring its interests in the South Caucasus," said the head of Russian diplomacy and added that some leaders in Yerevan have such hopes and speak about it directly.
