The RA NA President Alen Simonyan received the US Senator Gary Peters on September 25. The Head of Parliament welcomed the draft of the bipartisan Supporting Armenians Against Azerbaijani Aggression Legislative Act submitted to the Senate on September 21 by the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the U.S. Senate Bob Menendez, Gary Peters, and a number of other senators, expressing hope that it will be adopted.
Touching upon the emergency meeting of the UN Security Council held in New York on September 21, the RA NA President thanked the USA for its supportive speech, stressing that in the current situation, the urgency of effective and clear steps by the international partners is extremely important, including imposing sanctions on Azerbaijan.
The details and consequences of another large-scale attack unleashed by Azerbaijan on September 19 were discussed at the meeting. The Senator gave information about his visit to Vayots Dzor and Syunik regions. He condemned the humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, expressing support for the Armenian people. Gary Peters reaffirmed the United States’ support for Armenia’s territorial integrity.
