Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received Toivo Klaar, the special representative of the European Union on the South Caucasus and Georgia crisis in Baku.
The parties discussed the developments in the South Caucasus, the humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. It is noted that Klaar welcomed the meeting of Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh and representatives of Baku in Evlakh.
Aliyev once again assured that Baku will ensure the rights of the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh. He added that currently more favorable opportunities have been created for signing a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Klaar was on a working visit to Yerevan before leaving for Baku. He was received by the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan. The parties discussed the situation in the region, emphasized the need for guarantees for the security and rights of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, and exchanged ideas on Armenia-European Union cooperation.
