A hybrid war is taking place against the Republic of Armenia in the information field. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at Friday’s Cabinet meeting of the Armenian government.
In this regard, according to the PM, the Armenian government should be more attentive and keep communication with the public more active.
"It is very important to maintain the credibility of official information. Something that we say, we have to measure, check, recheck several times, and then publicize it," he said.
According to the Armenian Prime Minister in this emotional situation, any negative information can have a negative impact on the situation and decision-making, too, and that is why Nikol Pashinyan urged to assess the situation based on verified news.
Explaining the stance of the government of Armenia regarding the possible move of Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia, the PM said, “We assess that this could happen in case of recording the impossibility of our compatriots staying in Nagorno-Karabakh, and the continuation of this situation. Yes, we assess that this impossibility exists at this moment. That issue will be on our agenda if the situation doesn’t improve.”
PM Pashinyan repeated that Armenia prepared accommodation for over 40,000 NK families when the Azeri attack began. “We are ready and we continue to get ready. This is an agreed position with our colleagues in Nagorno-Karabakh that our plan A is not to depopulate Nagorno-Karabakh of Armenians. With our actions we must do everything for our compatriots, the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh, to have the opportunity to live safely, in dignity, without fear, in their homes,” Pashinyan said, noting that this was the key emphasis of the UNSC discussion. PM Pashinyan said the government of Armenia will not spare anything.
The Armenian Prime Minister reiterated his assessment that at this moment there is no direct danger to the civilian population of Nagorno-Karabakh, and this assessment has somewhat improved in a positive sense. PM Pashinyan stated however that the situation is dynamic and could change at any moment.
"But, I say again, the situation can change at any moment, I cannot say that it is stable, and in individual cases, when talking about the civilian population, it does not refer to the fact that no incident can happen in any place. It is generally about situation and assessment. And we need to continue our active cooperation with our media field as well, so that people get the right information, because in this emotional situation, any negative information can have a negative impact on the situation and decision-making, moreover, and for this it is very important that we let's evaluate the situation on the basis of verified news," emphasized the Prime Minister and informed that if necessary, he will go on the air and present the situation," Pashinyan said.
