On September 20, in New York, within the framework of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Ignazio Cassis, Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, Armenian Foreign Ministry reports.
During the meeting, the situation resulting from another large-scale aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh on the morning of September 19 was discussed in detail. Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized that Azerbaijan continues its aggressive and ethnic cleansing policy of Nagorno-Karabakh, emphasizing the imperative of preventing atrocity crimes in Nagorno-Karabakh and addressing the security and rights of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh.
Foreign Minister Mirzoyan emphasized that in the current situation, any ambiguous response by international partners will be continuously perceived by Azerbaijan as permissiveness in its actions, stressing the need for an adequate response and clear steps by actors interested in stability in the region. The provision of humanitarian access to Nagorno-Karabakh and full functioning of the International Committee of the Red Cross undermined by Azerbaijan's 9-month-long blockade of the Lachin corridor were also highlighted.
The meeting of the UN Security Council scheduled for September 21 was touched upon.
