On September 20, in New York, within the framework of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Igli Hasani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Albania, Armenian Foreign Ministry reports.
During the meeting issues related to the security situation in the region were discussed. Touching upon the large-scale aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh on September 19, Minister Mirzoyan noted that it was preceded by Azerbaijan's 9-month-long blockade of the Lachin corridor, aimed at subjecting the people of Nagorno-Karabakh to ethnic cleansing. Minister Mirzoyan briefed his Albanian counterpart on the cases of targeting the civilian population and infrastructures, stressing that the use of force should be unequivocally condemned everywhere.
The meeting of the UN Security Council, scheduled for September 21, on the aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against Nagorno-Karabakh was touched upon.
The issues of the expansion of Armenia-Albania political dialogue and bilateral agenda were also discussed. Both sides recorded a mutual willingness to develop cooperation in a number of directions.
