The Kremlin still does not see any reason to talk about "ethnic cleansing" in Nagorno-Karabakh, said Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian President, in an interview to the First Channel of Russia.
"For now, there is no reason to talk about ethnic cleansing, that's why there are direct contacts during which we convey our concerns," he said.
The Russian Federation expects that Azerbaijan will fulfill its promise not to hit civilian objects, Peskov noted. "We hear statements from Baku that only military objects are their target, and civilian targets are not in the center of their attention. We want to hope that this is true," the Kremlin spokesman said.
"We are convinced that all the rights and security of the Armenian population of Karabakh should be ensured," he emphasized.
