The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani offered to Armenia and Azerbaijan the mediation of Rome for the settlement of the situation over Nagorno-Karabakh. In particular, he suggested the heads of the foreign departments of the two countries to hold a meeting in the Italian capital.
"Yesterday I met the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, I offered them the Italian mediation, in particular, a meeting in Rome," he said.
Tajani expressed his opinion that the existing issues can be settled according to the model that operates in the Trentino-Alto Adige autonomous region of Italy. According to the Italian Foreign Minister, the two ministers expressed interest and willingness to meet in Rome.
"Today we will send a document to the governments of Armenia and Azerbaijan, where Italy's proposal will be presented," he said.
