The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan expressed disappointment regarding the statements of the US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasian Affairs, Yuri Kim, during the hearings of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Speaking at the meeting, the representative of the State Department stated, in particular, that the Lachin corridor should be opened immediately. Kim noted that the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan is not over yet, the Lachin Corridor is blocked, and "a military attack on the Armenian people of Nagorno-Karabakh is unacceptable."
Aykhan Hajizada, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, emphasized that Kim's statements "contrary to the agreement on the simultaneous use of the Aghdam-Stepanakert road and the Lachin Corridor, which was reached on September 1 during the contacts between the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken." Hajizada expressed his opinion that the statement of the representative of the State Department that the rights and security issues of the "Armenian people of Nagorno-Karabakh" should be reflected in the peace treaty signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia contradicts the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.
