Moscow announced a diplomatic démarche to Baku in connection with the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan regarding the elections in the Ukrainian regions controlled by Russia. This was announced by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
"Azerbaijan's statements about elections in the new territories of Russia are unacceptable and do not correspond to the nature of the alliance. Baku should treat the issues of Russia's territorial integrity with the same respect that they expect from us when it comes to Azerbaijan," added Zakharova.
Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan issued a statement stating that it does not recognize the elections held in the Ukrainian regions under Russian control.
