The United Nations also responded to the recent presidential election in Nagorno-Karabakh. Stéphane Dujarric, the spokesman of the UN Secretary General, reminded the Security Council resolutions confirming Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and called to respect them.
"From our point of view, we would like to recall Security Council resolutions affirming the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and a call for its full respect. The Secretary-General urges Armenia and Azerbaijan to intensify efforts towards the long term normalization of relations for the benefit of peace and security in the region," Dujarric stated.
