The Russian Foreign Ministry sent a note of protest to Armenia's Ambassador in Moscow. Armenia has taken a number of unfriendly steps in recent days. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation issued a statement containing such an assessment, citing as examples: the start of the process of ratification of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, the visit of the Prime Minister's wife Anna Hakobyan to Kyiv and the provision of humanitarian aid, the holding of military exercises in the territory of Armenia with the participation of the USA.
The department noted that in connection with the statement of RA NA Speaker Alen Simonyan regarding the comments of Maria Zakharova, the Russian Foreign Ministry's protest note was handed over to Vagharshak Harutyunyan, the Armenian Ambassador in Moscow.
At the same time, the department expressed confidence that Russia and Armenia remain allies, all agreements on the development and strengthening of partnership will be fully implemented for the benefit of the peoples of both countries. This, among other issues, refers to the organization of exercises within the framework of the CSTO and the subsequent sending of the organization's observation mission to Armenia in order to contribute to the settlement process with Azerbaijan.
"The Russian side will continue to make all necessary efforts for the realization of these goals," the statement said.
