Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan issued a message of condolence on the passing of the outstanding representative of Armenian sports, three-time Olympic champion, and legendary gymnast Albert Azaryan.
"Azaryan's contribution is invaluable not only at the Armenian, but also at the world level of sports. Achievements that are unique in the history of gymnastics, including the set of exercises he performed on the rings, officially named the Azaryan Cross.
"A man-legend who was an inspiring example and teacher for all athletes. Albert Azaryan was one of the individuals who make up the glory and pride of Armenian sports, whose achievements and contributions to the development of gymnastics are invaluable," the message reads, in particular.
Legendary Armenian gymnast Albert Azaryan passed away Tuesday at the age of 94.
