Foreign Minister Jin Park had a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, Korean Foreign Ministry reports. The two Ministers said that they were glad to have a phone call after the meeting on the occasion of the 77th UN General Assembly in September last year, and suggested further expanding the friendly relationship between the two countries through close high-level communication.
Minister Park said that he was making every effort to transfer the frozen funds under the clear recognition that the frozen funds belonged to the Iranian people, and that he was moving toward resolving pending issues through close dialogue and communication with the relevant countries. “We evaluated this progress”, Park said.
In addition, Minister Park suggested that the two countries open up a new 60 years in celebration of the 61st anniversary of diplomatic ties, and that they expand cooperation between the two countries in areas that can be pursued, such as academia, science, sports, and culture. He said that he puts great emphasis on the relationship between Korea and confirmed his will to improve relations.
“Minister Park said that, as the ROK assumes a non-permanent member of the Security Council next year, it will strive for peace and security in the Middle East”, the Korean Ministry said in a press release.
