A press conference was held after the talks between the presidents of Russia and Turkey, Vladimir Putin and Recep Erdogan, in Sochi.
The President of Turkey has stated that his country is ready to assume the role of a mediator in the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.
"We are determined to continue our efforts to establish peace, stability and prosperity in the region. As before, we are ready to act as a mediator in starting direct negotiations between the conflicting parties," Erdogan said.
The Turkish President also said that he discussed with his Russian counterpart the issue of building a new nuclear power plant in Sinop, Turkey, and assured that close contacts with Russia will continue to contribute to the solution of regional and global problems.
