Armenia’s Human Rights Defender made a statement today regarding the aggression of the Azerbaijani armed forces in the direction of the Armenian positions located in the Sotk and Norabak sectors. The statement reads:
“Today, from the early morning of September 1, in the immediate vicinity of the settlements of Sotk and Norabak in the Gegharkunik province, the armed forces of Azerbaijan took aggressive actions, opening fire from weapons of various calibers in the direction of the Armenian positions. The armed forces of Azerbaijan also used drones and mortars, as a result of which the right to life and health of the Armenian servicemen ensuring the security of the border population of the Republic of Armenia was violated. The Armenian side has 4 victims, 1 wounded.
The use of large-caliber weapons by the Azerbaijani armed forces against civilian settlements also undermines the life, health and other fundamental rights of the civilian population.
The human rights defender received alerts that the shots could be clearly heard in the settlements, as a result of which the residents were terrorized, in a state of uncertainty and stress.
In Sotk, agricultural work has been completely stopped, the harvested grass has remained in the fields, and people are unable to collect it and transport it to the village. In addition, the agricultural equipment (tractor) was left in the field, the driver, being concerned that he could be targeted, did not approach the equipment.”
