At Thursday’s Cabinet meeting, the Armenian government approved the proposal to sign the agreement between Armenia and the European Union (EU) on the status of the European Union monitoring mission in Armenia (EUMA).
"The deployment of the EU civilian mission in Armenia is aimed at establishing stability and peace in the region. The Armenian side attaches great importance both to this and to all initiatives aimed at deepening cooperation in the security sector with the European Union," states, in particular, the government explanation for the aforesaid decision.
EUMA is a non-executive, non-armed civilian Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) Mission. EUMA observes and reports on the security situation along the Armenian side of the international border with Azerbaijan.
