Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian hailed the recent progress in the negotiations with India regarding Chabahar and expressed hope that the final agreement on Chabahar will be signed in the near future, IRNA reports.
Speaking in a meeting with Iran's ambassador to India Iraj Elahi, Amirabdollahian emphasized the importance of India in Iran’s Look to East policy and called for accelerating the implementation of joint projects and expanding economic relations between the two countries.
He also described India as an important and active member of the North-South International Corridor.
Amirabdollahian appreciated India's support in finalizing Iran's membership in BRICS and expressed hope for developing economic cooperation between the two countries within the framework of BRICS.
During the meeting, Ambassador Elahi presented a report on Iran’s relations with India and the holding of an intergovernmental committee.
