When the first deputy mayor of Marseille was informed about France's initiative to send humanitarian cargo to Nagorno-Karabakh, Michèle Rubirola did everything to be included in the delegation.
The French official said this during the press conference organized in Syunik province, at the same time noting that this is her first visit to Armenia, although she would like the first visit not to be like this.
“If Marseille was not represented in this delegation and in this aid, we would have a serious problem. Marseille remembers very well all the Armenians it accepted," he said, emphasizing that many Armenians live in Marseille.
At the same time, Michèle Rubirola expressed her wish that the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh live in their homes.
“In the 21st century, starving a people to force them to leave their homes is unacceptable. The suffering of any people is unacceptable. We are also here to protect all suffering peoples, wherever they are,” she said, expressing hope that President Macron would respond to their request and submit a resolution to the UN Security Council.
She also called for cities in other countries to take such an initiative so that the international community wakes up.
