Nagorno-Karabakh State Minister Gurgen Nersisyan convened a working meeting on August 29, ahead of the new academic year to start on September 1.
"Minister of Education and Culture Norayr Mkrtchyan presented the results of the discussions and preparations with representatives of educational institutions, as well as the problems caused by the complete siege of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh). The Minister emphasized the problems of the severe shortage of stationery, educational materials, food, hygiene items and the lack of transport, stressing that under these conditions, everything possible was done to prepare for the start of the educational process on September 1.
The State Minister emphasized the need for a comprehensive analysis of existing problems and opportunities and the need to make all efforts for the effective organization of the educational process. Gurgen Nersisyan emphasized that it is necessary to do as much as possible to not put children's health under additional threat in the current difficult conditions, while not neglecting the state's obligation to ensure the right to education.
In addition to the representatives of the Ministry, Human Rights Defender Gegham Stepanyan, National Assembly MPs Aram Grigoryan and Eleonora Avanesyan, Mayor of Stepanakert Davit Sargsyan, other officials also presented their observations and suggestions.
After the discussion, the State Minister gave a number of instructions to the authorized body regarding what to do in the coming days, at the same time emphasizing the need for daily monitoring and analysis of the situation in order to make appropriate decisions according to the need," the message states.
